GST Schools Manual Website

The GST Schools Manual website has been established to specifically assist education providers in dealing with their ongoing GST obligations.

Catholic schools are part of a national arrangement and already have access to this site. Schools should contact their Diocesan Education Office or State Education Commission for more information.

The site has been designed to provide information to non-tertiary education providers (pre, primary and secondary schools) including the following:

·         A comprehensive GST guide dealing with issues such as:

o        GST compliance matters (registration, tax invoices etc)

o        GST on education supplies and treatment of common expenses

o        Application of charity provisions (ie. Non-commercial or fundraising supplies)

o        Interaction with other laws (ie FBT)

·         A monthly newsletter providing updates on:

o        New ATO rulings/guidelines

o        Recent questions and answers

o        Court cases

·         A list of questions and answers submitted.
