Queensland Catholic School Parents Conference

2010 Conference

‘Putting the Pieces Together…...all as one’

30 April - 02 May 2010  -  TOOWOOMBA

Want to engage more effectively in your children’s education? How can you identify a Catholic school? What subjects  -will they study? How will they be assessed? How much you will pay in fees in the future? These and other important topics will be up for discussion at the forthcoming 2010 P & F Federation’s  Catholic School Parents’ Conference to be conducted in Toowoomba on the weekend of April 30 – May 2 with the theme “Putting the Pieces Together – all as one.”

Activities will commence with the presentation of the Jack Woodward Memorial Lecture on the Friday evening by distinguished author and educator, Professor Jack Keating who has recently released a number of papers which propose a new direction for education and schools’ funding in Australia.

The conference will  open  on Saturday morning and the program will include keynote speakers Dr Peter Hill, the newly appointed CEO of ACARA, the national curriculum authority and  Phil Billington who has extensively researched the identity of the Catholic school. These presentations will be supplemented by a series of workshops on topics of interest proposed by parents.

The conference Mass will be celebrated by the Bishop of the Toowoomba Diocese, Bishop William Morris and the Conference dinner will follow. Guests will be entertained at the dinner by Michael  Mc Queen who will share his thoughts on getting to know Gen Y  and will follow up with a workshop on Sunday.

All parents and carers from throughout the state are invited to attend the conference which gives the opportunity to meet others from around the state and some from interstate to share our opinions on the important issues regarding the parent’s role in the future of Catholic education.
