The Non Government Schools Transport Assistance Scheme (NGSTAS)

Bus.JPGThe Non Government Schools Transport Assistance Scheme (NGSTAS) which was initiated by the Federation and is administered by the Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) on behalf of all non-state schools and is funded by the Queensland State Government.

Further information on NGSTAS can be found at http://www.schooltransport.com.au/

The NGSTAS provides two forms of assistance:

Bus Fare Assistance Program (BFAP)

The purpose of the program is to provide financial assistance to families who pay more than a nominated weekly threshold in bus fares to transport their children to a Non-State School located outside the Brisbane City Council Boundary. Funds are limited and the level of assistance provided to eligible applicants depends on the program funds available in the relevant semester.

Online applications forms for Parents and carers of eligible students are available:

May for Semester One and October for Semester Two

Students with Disabilities (SWD) Transport Assistance Program

The purpose of the program is to provide financial support to families of those students whose disability necessitates transport assistance to and from school by a means that takes account of their disability.  The level of assistance provided to eligible applicants will depend on the program funds available in the relevant semester.

To qualify for travel assistance students must have transport needs that are demonstrably different to those of their same age peers, by reason of their disability.

Online applications forms for Parents and carers of eligible students are available:

May for Semester One and October for Semester Two
