Levy and finance

The Federation relies on the goodwill of the communities throughout the state to provide the funding for its operation.

The Federation collects a membership fee or levy from all schools or P & F Associations. There are over 121,000 children in 286 Catholic schools in Queensland.

This year, the levy is $5.85 per student (53 cents GST) and includes the students in the new preparatory year. The levy funds the operation of the Secretariat and provides finance to the Diocesan Councils and to the State Committee for their important work.

In some schools, the levy is attached to the school fees so that all parents/carers can contribute to the cost of the network. In others, the school pays the levy on behalf of the P & F and in other schools the P & F is responsible.  If school communities wish to pay the levy by instalments, this is easily arranged by the Secretariat.

The Annual Report of the Federation contains audited statements of the Federation’s finances and copies are available from the Secretariat.
